You need to figure out what color you want your walls if you are painting, then you can choose a color scheme off of that. It can be overwhelming, we just moved into our house a little over a year ago and we looked through tons of home magazines and online pictures and we pieced together what we liked from those to figure it out. My advice is to look at sites like houzz.com, this one (hometalk), and pinterest and search master bedrooms. Then find a color scheme that you like.

You can also get some paint chips, and put them on the wall for awhile to decide which one you like in the room, lighting can change the color.

I agree magazines are great inspiration, as are websites like https://www.houzz.com/photos/bedroom

If you don't have furniture, check out www.wayfair.com

Sometimes linens can inspire a room too, I like www.thecompany.store/home or a discount retailer http://www.brylanehome.com/home-Bedding-and-Bath.aspx?DeptId=15154 or a retailer like Bed Bath & Beyond. Then you can pick up a color from your linens for walls, lamp shades, even the coloration of the wood.

I'm an avid reader of Houzz and all the professionals on the site say to first pick an area rug, if you have hardwood floors, or bedding that you love and go from there. There are thousands of paint colors that can be matched to a color from your rug or bedding. You need to have a budget in mind and decide what style you like. Then you go about choosing your bed, nightstands, dressers etc. It's really a remarkable site-there are thousands of inspiration pictures to look at and all kinds of good advice.
