If you want to have a dual-function room, put in floor to ceiling shelving that perhaps matches your table on one wall. The bottom of the shelves should have drawers or doors to hide printer paper, files, etc. Perhaps a drop-leaf that can be closed to hide a computer and as a work surface. A dual-purpose dining room/office is a great idea because a dining room is usually only used once or twice a year. For resale, people want a dining room, so if you can leave your table and a chandeliere in the middle, that would be best for showing your home and for you to have a formal dining room when needed while you are living there.
Hi Sue, this question is still posted, so here is one more suggestion to help you out, it's got some great ideas! https://www.epicurious.com/expert-advice/how-to-turn-your-kitchen-table-into-a-home-office-space-and-back-again-article
You can add a small desk and pretty chair. Keep your office supplies in a decorative bench or hutch/armoir. An old hutch would look beautiful in the room.
