Ask how deep they will be sinking the fence posts and how close together will they be spaced. Also before hiring anyone, make sure they are licensed and properly insured. You can check their qualifications on your state's Contractor's License Board. They all have helpful info for consumers. Get multiple bids for the exact same job. Get bids and interview until you find someone who you feel is the best fit for the job. How exciting and good luck!
You need to determine how many panels you want to replace (all or some), you need to make sure you aren't paying more than twice the amount of labor then the cost of a panel (for example: if a panel costs $25 dollars it will generally cost about $50 additionally for labor), and you want to make sure that you adhere to any code your city or HOA might have. Some places require certain types of fence, i.e pressure treated versus regular and they have to have it stained a particular color. Which is something you also want to ask about in your quote-- the type of wood panel, the height (at least 6' is preferable to most people), labor, time it will take to install it, will the company provide a barrier to the yard if they aren't finished in a day, and will the finished product be stained, painted or treated... those are some things you will have to talk to contractors about. Hope this helps.
Before getting a fence for your house, you should arrange a consultation with the contractor at your home to have look at the landscape and a better understanding of your needs. There are few questions that you should ask the expert-
What types of fencing materials do you install?
Do you have a portfolio of completed projects I can see?
Are there any hidden or additional charges I need to be aware of?
What type of warranty is offered for the fence?
also ask for whether they offer post installation service or not.
Get more than one quote and be sure they are quoting on exactly the same thing. You will need to discuss length, height, style and what the construction materials will be. Be sure to fence is solid in the ground with a good depth for the posts. Do you need a gate? Do you want something that requires very little maintenance? Does it need to be stained or painted?
