What plants can I use that are deer resistant?

We are building a new house in Charlottesville, Virginia. I have been looking all over the web to try and create a list of deer resistant plants. I know foxglove and lavender are good, but it would be nice to have a list of plants and designs instead of having to hunt all over the place. And it would be nice to have the list in order of resistance. For instance, I know they will not touch foxglove as it is toxic to them, but there are other plants they usually don't eat unless they are exceptionally hungry.

Ah yes I forgot Rosemary and also Russian Sage which is so pretty. But I wish I could find ONE LIST somewhere. I'm busy compiling my own. Greatly appreciate your input!

I've been reading that Irish Spring Soap that's been shredded in a food processor will keep away deer. From the photo I saw, it doesn't require much, but needs to be reapplied after a heavy rain.

Yes Lilly of the Valley has worked in the past - after three years they started eating my Tiger Lilllies and salvia - they always eat daylillies here. I'm going to plant a bunch of foxglove - they never touch them since they are toxic to them. Thanks!

Ive bought some "deer resistant" plants that the deer have still eaten off so I guess it's really hard to come up with a complete list since a hungry deer will try anything. They do not touch my tiger lilies, daisies, daylilies, butterfly bush, salvia, Lily of the valley, ferns, promise or black eyed susan's. Good luck!
