Can I install an outside wood deck over a brick patio?

The bricks are raised up because of large tree roots. Do i have to remove the bricks? Trying to find the least expensive and time consuming method.

Not all of them, just where you set your new piers in for the stability and level of the new deck
Not directly on top. It would need to be elevated off the bricks. You can use deck blocks to raise it.
