Jute upholstery burlap or jute burlap

I wanted to buy some burlap to make a banner and bird seed bags for my daughter's wedding. What is the difference between jute upholstery burlap and jute burlap? I was thinking maybe the upholstery burlap is thicker and stronger? Thanks!

Deyva, I'm a seamstress and worked in fabric stores for over a decade twenty years ago. I've never stopped shopping fabric though. There are different grades of burlap. I've seen both high and low quality used in upholstery. Unless you can find out the thread count (that's how many threads there are per inch of fabric) your best bet is to see it in person. The quality sold in fabric stores and WM fabric department is nothing like the quality sold a few years ago. In keeping the price low the manufactures lowered the quality/thread count. With that in mind I suggest picking the birdseed first so you know the smallest size of seed before choosing the burlap. You might also want to look into burlap ribbon as you can find it with finished edges and in a width that would cut down the time in making the little bags. http://www.save-on-crafts.com/burlap-ribbon.html

You're very welcome @Deyva. I don't envy you. Been there with a daughter's wedding. So much work!
