What is a protective coating that can be applied over paint?

  • I have a old wood table that I have painted. I would like to also apply an additional protective coating that might help protect it from the humidity.

    call lowes or home depot. they will know the best things to use. Places like walmart wont have the latest products that have come out like Lowes or HD

    Have you ever used/heard of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint? There is a clear sealing wax that you apply to the piece after painting it, and it seals/protects the surface. I actually painted a TILE FOYER FLOOR with it (sealing with a couple coats of the wax) about 4 years ago, and never had a scratch!

    Polyurethane it comes in cans and spray

    I love mod podge for furniture. I paint furniture all the time and use it on every piece.

    Polyethylene water or oil base , polyarcrylic, varnish, wax. My favorite is water base polyethylene.
