Idea for decorative place in front corner of my fence.

I had to section off the front corner of my fence. Because of living on a hill, most rain storms (or ever power washing my deck) will make water go downhill and dirt collects in that corner. Impossible to keep grass on the hill, and it doesn't help having a dog either. As a result it is now about 5-8 inches higher that the area just back. Do to this lovely hill, we had to add a spur in front of the fence for our third car. Dirt runs through the fence pickets and the driveway always looks dirty. I have dug up the 8 inches of dirt and filled holes from my precious dog. I have in an effort to make it pretty and prevent further dirt buildup, placed the gardening green plastic against the fence, decorative stones and mulched. I have at the moment got black iron fencing about 2.5 feet tall around that, so my dog can not get in the corner and jump the fence or tear it up. Now HELP! I need to find something decorative that will stand outside to place in this corner. Right now there are 4 flower pots with flowers sitting in there. My husband is very pleased with himself for thinking the flowers pots was a good idea. Definitely not attractive. Any ideas of something unique that I can place in there, maybe even something that would produce some light since it is dark on the side of house on the spur. The light would certainly help when my son comes home to park at night.

How about adding a cool accent lighting piece to the area? Something like this project perhaps-

That would be a great idea if you used solar lights instead of candles. It would be much easier to use. You could adapt the size and look to your own choice.

    Hi Donna,

I'm trying to picture your problem in my head, and it's a bit difficult, so if my suggestion is totally off the wall, I apologize. I'm wondering if there's enough room on that corner to plant a tree. Once it takes root, it would keep the soil from eroding and help to anchor it down. You can still use the flowers, though I would plant them directly in the soil, which would also help to anchor things.

I can't imagine this in my mind's eye either. Have you considered finding a way to divert the water away from the collection point. Like putting in a dry creek bed. Contact your county extension office to see if there is someone who can come out and advise you. Also ask if there is any kind of financial aid to homeowners whose property suffers damages from rain water run off.
