I purchase alum powder in my grocery store where spices and pickling products are sold. It can be purchased online as well at www.amazon.com. Type in your search box "alum powder for sale'' on Google and it will give you links to places that sell the alum.
How much do you need? Amazon sells it in bulk, some stores sell in the spice aisle, but it can be tricky to get, not always in stock.

Check beauty supply stores. It's used just in case your inexperienced manicurist nicks a cuticle.
Some pharmacies carry it.
