Creating a Cozy Sitting Area From Another Space {for Virtually Free}

I have always wanted one of those cozy sitting areas in older homes called a "Hearth Room" but I didn't have a fireplace in the space off of my kitchen. Well, I decided to create an "UN-Hearth" room by converting a Breakfast Nook into a cozy sitting area. I could not be happier and more pleased. With some chairs I pulled out from storage and a few accessories I had on hand, I created this cozy area where I can sit and read my cookbooks, or where the grandloves can sit while I am fixing dinner.

Patty Holmes on Jan 24, 2014The coffee table/wicker ottoman serves to keep people from hitting their heads on the chandy, I presume? I love this idea. Where do you gather to eat now? In a formal dining room? We are empty nesters too and have our grands and their parents over for dinner. I love your "unhearth" room and would love to copy it, but my formal dining room is my sewing/quilt room so I don't know how I could convert my one and only dining area. But I love your's!
