Hello Lynne, I recommend pouring boiling water on first and then sprinkle salt. A lot of salt. This method is effective and inexpensive. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Suffocate with cardboard and paper bags. Make sure to anchor them down with rocks or mulch to keep them from blowing away. Or you could tarp it or use black trash bags. Two weeks in the hot sun usually does it.
