Mythical Creature Solar Lanterns
For the silhouettes, I googled fairy silhouettes, dragon silhouettes, and unicorn silhouettes. I made sure to reduce their size and printed very small copies.
I used a temporary spray glue to adhere the pics to thin cardboard.
I used small, very pointed scissors and an xacto knife to cut the pictures as precisely as possible.
From there, I basically followed the tutorial from this link here
http://blog.pixiehill.com/2015/12/fairy-lantern-with-tutorial.html
I used colored glitter for some of the jars instead of just white
and spray paint to cover the brand name on the lids.
We used old jewelry, dollar store beads, and found seashells to decorate.
I pulled apart some dollar store solar lights to put inside of the jars.
I also sprayed the outside with a sealer to adhere the glitter better. I didn't want everything scratching off too easy.
Here are the girl lanterns
and the boy lanterns

I like this! Most "recycled jar" stuff just looks bland, even though I like the idea of keeping trash out of the landfill, but these are fun!
