I did this with my daughters baby afgan. Lay the backing out right side up, put the afgan on top, stitch around edges leaving a 4 or 5 inch gap for turning. Reach in through gap and turn inside out, hand stitch gap closed. You must either quilt stich afgan and flannel together or tie with yarn as if it were a quilt so afgan doesn't slide all over the place.

If you put something stretchy (knit blanket) with something not stretchy (felt) I think you're going to end up with problems if it's being used. If it's for display it wouldn't matter, but knit blankets will curve around that body while felt might get stuck. I'd be concerned that the knit would get stretched out if shape in spots. Plus if you want to wash it, I think you'd run into trouble. If you want to back it, I'd suggest some other kind of fabric that would have some 'give' and that is washable. You can google ' backing a knitted blanket with fabric ' and find many tips and hints. HTH
