Get an IKEA catalog and look at their online site for inspiration. My room had a bump out for the pipes. So had it built out on other side, used the IKEA panel curtains for "Doors" as well as a closet system and I have a very nice closet. The single guest bed is on risers for more storage space underneath for out of season clothes and extra bedding. Clear heavy duty IKEA storage bags are cheap and wonderful. They also have small kitchen carts for 25 to 30 dollars that do an awesome job. I am on the 2nd floor so coats stay in the foyer and the coat closet is the "Broom closet" and it hold a lot. Small appliances are on one of the 24.99 IKEA cart. I needed a tiny bit more extra real estate when I was having dinner guests. I just bought the white 29.99 cart with two wheels. Awesome! Small footprint and it keeps my counters clear when I am cooking. Dishes to set table, serving dishes can be brought out and put on it. In the broom closet I have small utilities such as the toaster oven. It comes right out and now has a space on the cart I just got. When I am done it goes away.
Hmmm, I think to make any place more plant friendly you need to consider temperature, humidity and sun expore. Your kitchen and especially your bath may be the most humid places in your home but a tabletop humidifier can make any room more comfortable for some plants. Plants hanging in a window or set on a sill will best serve some plants while others will prefer indirect sun. The temperature will be affected by fans, air conditioners, woodstoves, heaters, access to windows, proximity to doors, etc. I am sure you can make many small but effective tweaks to accommodate most of your plants. Have fun!
