We have the wooden slat porch swing. Instead of the super costly seat covers I have bought the cheaper chair seat covers that tie on and they work just fine.

If you like doing wood projects, this one would be fun. I reciently bought a oak wood glider swing for $10 and took it completely apart. Some slats were salvageable and some not. Sand the better ones and replace the really bad ones. Then verathane or shllack slats For a fine glaze. While they were curing I painted the frame and chain that were attached to the frame. When this was all assembled it was a nice work of art to be proud of. It's a well reward to yourself. Any pillow or chair pad would do, the chair makes any addition look good.
