Joanna Stoltzfus on Jan 20, 2014when we removed wall paper, to get the glue off, we would simply carry a little bottle of water with us. after the main stuff is off, spray the water on, and scrape away. works well!Helpful Reply

Susan Gray on Jan 20, 2014I would try warm white vinegar. Works to remove the paper might work on the glue that is left behind.Helpful Reply

Seidman Paperhanging on Jan 21, 2014The easiest way to remove the adhesive is doing it when the walls are still wet. Use a nylon barbecue grill cleaner, a window squeegee then a clean rinse to get rid of it. Paint will flake off where you have adhesive left. If you can't get it all off, or even if you think you have it off, prime the walls with zinsser Guards, it was made to seal in residual adhesive. I've just given you the Kung Fu secret, I hope they don't kill me. LOLHelpful Reply

Dottie on Jan 21, 2014You're funny honey. What is the best solution to use? When I was in the process of removing the old wallpaper, (which I might add was on very securely with I am assumming A LOT PASTE) I used a solution of warm vinegar water and a sponge. It seems I had to continue wiping with the sponge as I sprayed the liquid lightly on the wallpaper in sections of a foot at a time and gently removing the paper. some was vinyl (which was much easier) and the paper was very delicate and would have ripped if I had not soaked it enough.Helpful Reply

Seidman Paperhanging on Jan 22, 2014Roman's decorating products makes an enzyme that breaks down adhesive and is not harmful to your lungs. It's called Pirana. Use it in a garden sprayer. I don't like steamers because the steam rises to the ceiling & contains adhesive that can later attack the paint. Drywall is made of paper, leaving the steamer in one place too long can separate the facing paper of the sheetrock. Hope this makes your work easier.Helpful Reply

Deanna Mills on Jul 25, 2015Warm water and vinegar. Soak the walls with this solution and WAIT until the glue softens. Then rinse with more warm water and vinegar. Remember, there is no lazy or quick way to do this job...It takes a long time, but this is the best, cheapest way I have found.Helpful Reply
