Taking a break from wedding crafting today, in order to make a sweet gift for our local watering hole! We love Avion & Claw and what they have created here in Atascadero. Sam and I will forever be huge fans of great design being partnered with awesome food and wine! And, seriously, you can’t beat the chill, and friendly atmosphere that Alexandra and Shawn have established….signs of great things to come!

Yes, we are fans. And when we found a tattered old flag, we decided that it could become an awesome gift for their already super cool space.

(Note: Some of you may cringe at my cutting a flag…I know that I did a bit. But, honestly, the repurposer in me could not resist making use of this awesome material! I guess I am choosing to look at this as a new form of patriotism icon ).

Supplies:
  • Old Tattered Flag
  • Pillow
  • Scissors
  • Thread
  • Sewing needle

Here goes nothing!!
Measure the amount of fabric you need to cover the pillow.
Then start cutting!
We wanted to make sure there was enough stars and stripes on this cute Fourth of July pillow so we measured accordingly.
We made sure to measure again before hand sewing this bad boy!
Make sure to use pins to secure the fabric.
Ummm, you may also think that I am crazy for hand sewing this little cutie.  But, honestly, I was just way too lazy to pull out the sewing machine.  I know, kind of lame, but I think it turned out fabulous! Now, we have to make time for popping into Avion & Claw to deliver the goods icon
Can't wait for 4th of July!!
Cheers to new patriotic home decor and this American flag pillow!

xoxo,
Chanda

You are very creative. I'm sorry but some things, because of respect and what they represent, are off limits. It saddens me that people no longer value flag protocol. Just the fact that this post is going to irritate people is proof. I hope you will use other things to repurpose that do not represent the very freedom we have to say this and that no one gave their lives for. Thank you for your consideration.
