Go to an upholstery shop & purchase a very long needle and the type of thread they have for that type of repair. Remove the back of the chair by using a screw driver and a hammer (claw) Check how the other buttons
are attached and follow their lead. Watch the front of the recliner so you
do not pull in too far secure the thread as other buttons are securred and
place the back to original position and starting from the bottom hammer the
nails back in place going from side to side . OR if the back of the recliner
comes off, take it to an upholsterer with the button in hand and have them
replace the button.
Or you could just stitch it back on on if the tufting held. If not, the full repair might be needed.
