What crafts did you make?
I find clear lacquer to better for outside crafts make sure it is in door outdoor have used it for clay and plastic does not look like a finish seems more natural. On wood there are many things to use such as waterproofing product with a UV protection or a poly Spar
Depending what it is several coats of a water based polyurethane will work. Minwax Polycrilic or spar varnish provide added UV protection.
If you live in an extreme climate, consider using Marine epoxy top coat, and get the non-yellowing kind. All poly top coats will yellow if you don't buy the non-yellowing ones.
