I acquired a very solid vintage oak table in the mission style. It was tall as a dining table with a small round top. After some contemplation, I decided to make it a chess or checkers table.
Instead of masking tape, I cut the squares out of Con-tact paper... it even has the grid on the back! I used black paint, walnut stain and varthane, all of which I had on hand. I did some light distressing before the top coat.
I love how it turned out!
