I purchased a Silhouette Cameo on a whim. My first project was creating a stencil to add to the seat of a very solid but boring vintage oak chair. I created my design in Photoshop Elements then sent the file to the Silhouette. Being frugal, I used Con-tact paper from the dollar store. Before I added the stencil, I added a dark brown paint to the seat. After pressing down the stencil, I painted over the stencil with the brown base colour ... crucial step. Then the whole piece was painted in an ivory homemade chalk paint and lightly distressed here and there.
I had all the paints etc so it was pretty much free! My great nephew thought it was "cool".
