Depends on your preferences. If the space itself that the wall is located in is smaller in appearance you may want to stick with just the lighter colors so the room appears bigger. However, painting one wall darker and the rest lighter may have the same affect as well. Again, it is your preference.
yes you can and it will look very nice with a contrasting color or with a lighter shade of the opposite wall that you do the darker shade in. Have fun, you can always paint over it!
