How do you get rid od creeping charlie?
My lawn has been over run with creeping charlie, more of it then I have grass. How can I get rid of it?
I pull mine out by roots. I can't poison because it's in flower bed.
I pull up by roots. I can't poison, it's in flower bed.
Gently dig up the roots, wrap in a wet paper towel, put that part in a ziplock baggie, and send it to me! I love creeping Charlie!
I also suffered with Creeping Charlie! At one point, two thirds of my lawn was taken over. I tried everything under the sun. I finally tried Spectracide Weed and Feed. I mixed a much stronger solution than the instructions said. Used a handheld sprayer and really wet the "lawn" down with no rain scheduled for the next few days. Killed the Charlie and he lawn came back stronger than ever. I still get some Charlie coming back every so often, so I pull out what I can and spot spray it along with other weeds as general maintenance.
You have to dig it up even if you use a really good chemical solution - both should do the trick!
Creeping Charlie grows through the roots from plant to plant, unless you get all the roots, they will continue to pop up. A good weed killer that is safe for lawns should help. I have even used it in the garden. I use one that you can choose between spray and foam as the foam is easy to apply to a weed and not overspray a plant. I don't kill Creeping Charlie unless it goes into my garden as my yard is really shady and it helps my lawn to at least look a little greener and lusher.
