Oh dear! Not good. Is it getting sufficient water? Any sign of pests?
That's what I'm thinking. If your maple is less than 5 years old, it still needs regular watering.
It may have a fungus,or mites.Check the under sides of the leaves for any signs of that.
Sounds like it needs water. Maybe mulch would help to hold water.
