Ideas for Re-using Damaged Pedestal and Claw Legs

Ruth Hamner on Jan 22, 2014This leg can be replaced with gluing and clamping but will need reinforcement. I would drill matching holes and insert a dowel rod in the base and leg. It is a beautiful base and worth repairing.Helpful Reply

Jerry Deasy on Jan 22, 2014Joan, I would think that a good woodworker could fix this problem. I have a lot of experience with working with and gluing wood and I do not see a problem. There is a glue product called Gorilla glue that I have used that you might try. Clamping can be a challenge because of the nature of the piece to be replaced. How much experience do you have with this kind of project?Helpful Reply

Beth T on Jan 23, 2014I saw this from another blogger. You might need to add some wood, but it seems like it would be really cute! http://www.blueroofcabin.com/2013/05/how-to-make-lamp-from-broken-table.html This is my first ever comment on home talk! :)Helpful Reply

Kelly S on Jan 23, 2014what if you cut the main post in half lengthwise and used it, with 2 of the legs/feet, to support a shelf by nailing through it into the wall? The final vision is a demilune style table that takes up only half the space. The other half could go in another room with the remaining leg.Helpful Reply
