A flash drive is simply an external memory card, much like you probably have in your phone. When you plug it into your computer you can save your photos or documents to it and when you unplug it they are now safe and transportable. It is always a good idea to back up your photos and documents this way in case your computer ever crashes so you don't lose them.

Use a permanent marker to label each flash drive, even the tiny ones. You can number them if you keep an index. It's maddening to have to try four identical drives to find what you are looking for. Use The Cloud to back up your files and if you have thousands of photos as I do. I pay 99c a month for extra iCloud storage, but you get quite a bit for free. Best wishes 😇

First, insert the USB memory stick into an available USB port. On Windows, this will bring up a window showing the memory stick is now seen as a drive on your computer (e.g., "Removable Disk" E: drive). You'll also get a menu of options forusing the device. Select "Open folder to view files" at the bottom.Jul 1, 2011
