Can I paint my popcorn ceiling?

Drop cloths, you can get them by the paints anywhere, the plastic kind works well. Use painters tape, it comes in many widths for many needs and comes off easily compared to other tapes. If the moldings are too wide use strips of newspaper below the painters tape to cover the entire molding.
Blue painters tape, making sure you press it down good to prevent leakage under it and plastic drop cloths. Don't load to much paint onto your brushes.
I like Frog brand because it seals well, molds to various corners and shapes, and comes off easily. Best practices says to remove the tape when the paint is not quite dry. Best wishes 😇
