Beth Sanfilippo on Jan 23, 2014Do you have radiators? Banging could be from hot vs cold in radiator piping. Best solution. Drain the radiators. Be very careful, in the winter when furnace is on water is very hot. I suggest if you can, wait til.spring when heat is off. But, take your radiator key..open each radiator one by one, not all at the same time. Put a large pot or bucket under radiator spigget. Drain the water until it really slows down, it's going to be ugly rusty. That's normal. When water slows, take your key tighten spiggett back up, go to your next radiator..and so on, until you've purged all of them..again if you do it now it's going to be scalding hot water coming out. Careful!!!!Helpful Reply
