Need a whole backyard renovation

I had my inground swimming pool removed . the area is very sandy . I would like to wait till next spring to add grass and plants . how do I keep the weeds and insects from taking over for the whole summer ?

I would make a burnpit for the weeds . so they don't keep seeding and not have to do it all in one day. And plant some thyme around your porch . until you get renovated.
I would spray with vinegar. Just know the soil will need to be amended well before planting next spring.
