Pink Bathroom in Rented Apartment. What to Do?
This is my pink bathroom. The apartment is a rental, so I can't retile. What can I do to hide it or change its color?
build a base to raise the cabinet. use laminate for countertop and drop in sinks. also if you do not crack the countertop and can't reuse donate it for a tax credit. I think you could maybe remove the bottom of the mirror with a glass cutter. score it heavily then break with a hammer.
You're either going to have to replace the vanity or raise the exciting one. You can raise up the existing vanity with 2x4s and then use trim board around the base to cover the 4" gap
We used 2X4's to build a frame to raise our existing vanity, then just use base molding to cover it.
You can also trim out your mirror to give it a high end look. We've done this several times and it gives such a finished look!
If you want to take the mirror out, what we did was scout around all the discount stores until we found a set of matching mirrors. The shape - not the color was important. Spray paint works wonders!
Good luck.
Instead of raising the existing vanity on a box type arrangement consider adding legs to the vanity to do the job. You could even add a shelf the entire length of the vanity for basket or open storage. This would give a more open airy feel and provide an updated look.
