How can I remove Japanese knotweed permanently from my garden?

    that's one of the toughest plants out there, it makes a hobby of growing in on the sides of old volcanoes...get permission for a controlled burn, cut it all down, build a bonfire on the site, and then cover the area four feet out past the patch with black plastic, followed by old carpetting or plywood...

    and then sit there and watch for any sign that it's growing past that boundary.

    murder every single shoot that breaks ground, and keep doing that for oh, three years, or until it gives up.


    no, I'm not kidding -it's worse than bamboo, I've seen it hot asphalt poured over it, and the paving failed a couple years later.
