We water every day before 9 am or after 4pm if there is no rain in the forcast. If your plants look wilted they need water. I'm assuming you have drainage holes in the bottom to prevent over watering. 😄

  • I water every day, even twice a day, but we are in a hot, dry, single digit humidity area, everything dries out very quickly.

Regardless of raised garden or not it has to be watered every day unless you have a lot of rain.

What type of soil do you have? Sandy, Clay? That will help determine if you need to water everyday. An easy way to determine if you need to water is to put a stick into your garden soil and if the top 2 to 4 inches of the soil are dry, it is time to water.

Put a finger into the soil, if the soil feels dry it is dry and needs to be watered. You can get a meter that has a probe you put into the soil to get a moisture level. You can find them at many stores in the garden center. I have seen them at Walmart, Home Depot, and Menards. I can't tell you a price as the one I have is about 30 years old and working like a champ. We use it for our indoor plants and it really helps, I have a black thumb when it comes to indoor plants so hubby takes care of them.

Find out which plant in the raised bed requires the most water and use it as a guide for watering the rest. Containers/raised bed flowers need more frequent watering.. water when the soil is newly dry but not "dried out"
