The average price of water in the United States is about $1.50 for 1,000 gallons. At that price, a gallon of water costs less than one penny. But don't forget, you pay for it coming in AND going out, not to mention it's to much of a precious necessity to waste!
A leaking faucet with one drip per minute equals to about 34 gallons of water a year. With the cost of the water (your rate per 1,000 gal.), delivery of the water (service charges), and sewer charges it can cost you about $20.00 a month. Every community has different rates.
I used to like in Florida where the sewer rates were more than double the water rates. Check your bill or call the water company to find out your per gallon charge. It is super easy to fix a leaky faucet.
We had a leaky toilet in a place where water was very expensive. It added approximately $60 to each monthly water bill. Until we could get it fixed we turned off water supply to it.
