Those round glass stones...........

Got a question....I have seen people gluing those round glass stones to window panes. I have mobile home windows that crank open upward. One of them is cracked. Could I use the stones to decorate and deflect some of the heat and cover the crack in the window without adding too much weight to the windows? I was thinking doing this to just the top pane(there are three per window). They look like this....

    Hi Cheryl,

I'm not sure how much weight a particular window could take but I don't think putting a few pretty stones on it could harm. Let us know how you made out!

that might make the glass too heavy. I would do a faux stain glass treatment on the inside and the install some of the sun reflecting film on the other side. Hometalk has some good tutorials for the faux stained glass.

I agree that would strengthen your window plus address any draft hot or cold.

I would replace the window with a double paned window that raises up-and-down or move sideways. It will be more energy efficient without having to worry about adding Anything to the window

I love the stained glass idea. Maybe I can incorporated the stones in with that?

If I had a few hundred laying around, sure I'd replace the windows, but I live paycheck to paycheck. My neighbor just replaced his and blew up his credit card! Not going there. And odd sized windows cost more. My parents spent well over $4,000 just on an odd sized sliding glass door!!

I am not really worried about energy efficiency as I took care of that with weather stripping and caulk. And my electric bill in the summer runs me about $80 a month. Not bad for Florida!
