inset? Cut a hole in the wall, trim inside like you would prep for a window.
Whatever you do, take into consideration the weight of the TV. You could use a mount made for your TV size and weight and build out from the wall to cover the surrounding area. That way the mount will not be seen from the sides.
Thanks! I considered recessed with plank boards in complementary neutrals framing the screen/recessed area. I can get inexpensive wood at Lowes to use and stain them in no time. I also thought about making a box using plank wood to mount to the wall. Mount box to wall, secure TV inside, with holes drilled for wiring. The top of the TV box could be used for decoratve items. That way the TV isn't so stark in appearance and blends better into the room's decor. A narrow box of same or near same length mounted just below that holds my RoKu box, as well as a secure place for remotes. Maybe add the shelve inside the original TV box mount to put those items on.
Thank you again!!! I think you have made up my mind on which way to go.
