How do I go about redoing my oak table top and leaves?

It is that orange colored stain and don't want to do the chairs but the top is worn. I want it to shine nice too. So about a shade or two different wouldn't be bad. Could you tell me how to go about this in the easist and most simple way?

You will need to strip it first. Then sand smooth, stain the new color. I would use a polyurathane or table top kit to complete.

I just did this on a table I found in the trash! I used an electric hand sander with 220 grit to start and then switched to 400 grit before I stained the top. After you get the stain the way you want it I applied a few coats of polyurethane sealer. You can get this in gloss or matte finish. Good luck!!

i have had good luck with homer formby furniture restorer, which liquifies the finish, allowing me to get a finish almost good as new. Much less hassl!
