We had an antique coffee table with a marble oval top and an ornate wood base. The base broke, and we are trying to figure out how to create a new base that still goes with the look of our traditional/antique home.

I really wish there was a pic to help me guide my answer... but here I go:

Anything can really be a base as long as it is the right size. I've seen people use outdoor, ceramic structures and I've seen a menagerie of old crates used on their sides, also. Depending on the weight of the top, you might want to try your area antique stores or outdoor metal shops. They usually have some interesting structures that aren't over 22"

Use a large ceramic flower pot, with a design of your choice.

I used a large lamp base for a table base and it worked well.
