I have yet to find a pallet with good wood. Generally the wood is nasty and not in very good shape. I make a lot of adirondack chairs and use only cedar because cedar holds up really well outdoors. I suppose you could use pine to keep costs down but you would have to seal it with Spar Varnish. Here is an example of what I build.
