How can I faux finish painted stair bannisters to look like wood?

I have seen this done with brown lacquer paint and a metal comb to give the effect of grain. What are the best products to use and where do I buy the special paint and comb?

I use a wood graing tool from lowes/home depot..you paint a base coat color. Let dry..then top coat next color mixed with a.paint glaze that makes the paint take longer to dry so you can work.with it..it is so.easy to use and fun too
