How can I plant a tree in ground that has caliche?
Planted trees in backyard. Both died. I was told that the ground has caliche. Is there any way to treat the soil to be able to plant trees.
Ask any of the garden supply stores in your area, they will have lots of wonderful ideas for you including ones that you won't even have to mess with to much. There are various plants that do well growing between rocks with very little soil between rock to grow.
Check online for plants that will grow in rocky soil . I have planted Mums, rose if Sharon and phlox in Ricky soul with great success!
I lived in Lebanon, Mo for almost five years. I know about the rocks. I would soak the area you want to dig. Makes it easier. Then dig. I planted so many perennials there and never had a problem. Of course I used other soil at first where I planted. Everything grew really well even though it was mostly clay. The hardest part is digging.
