We live in extreme heat. Do you have any suggestions for flowering plants that do well in 100 * plus, direct sun, dry heat? Vinc is the only flowering plant I've found so far. Thank you!

Just get ice plants! They thrive in the heat! You can also look up the best heat resistant plants on the internet! Happy planting!

I live in Las Vegas with a west exposure on the front of my house. Because of the extreme summer sun/temps (116 this week!) I have started gardening in pots. When the summer comes on like a furnace, I move my pots to the east side of my home so they only get morning sun. I also run drip hoses all through the plants and attach it to a timer so they are watered daily without any dry out period. Right now, the east side of my house looks like a jungle. The only plants I have in the ground on the blazing hot west side that flower well are Oleanders, Texas Privet and lantana. Believe it or not....Roses grow beautifully in Las Vegas.

I live in the desert of southern California and it's currently 112 degrees this week in our area. I have several bougainvillea plants that always flower and hibiscus plants as well. Lantana is a great flowering groundcover. Daylilys is a flower which also does well in partial shaded areas or any desert type plant should do well. Just make sure they're on a regular watering schedule.

I live in the Phoenix area and about the only thing I can grow in the summer with color (in pots anyway) is portulaca. My vinca and gazania have all become crispy.
