With the upcoming changing of the seasons, take the time to make your home scorpion-proof:

    • Keep all sides of your home free from debris, leaves, wood piles, etc.
    • Fill in any holes in your foundation or cracks in your walls that might provide an entrance into your home
    • Caulk around doors and windows
    • Apply treatment granules in a 2-5 foot band around all sides of your home
    • Apply outside spray two feet up home walls, around door/window frames, and along eaves, garage door frame, sidewalks, and patio
    • Apply inside spray along all baseboards in every room, in closets, and around door/window frames

Next, remove the clutter from inside your home, too.

Since scorpions often feed on centipedes, spiders, and crickets, you should also keep people and pet food in air tight containers inside the home, and trash in closed, locking cans outside the home. By curbing an invitation to these other pests, you will reduce the potential for a scorpion to follow them into your home.

Food grade diatomacious earth. It's non-toxic to humans and pets unless they eat a bowl full of it.

And they will come in the smallest openings!! Electric outlets! I also live in AZ and I put foam insulation behind all the outlets (it's made for that purpose) and made sure all my exterior doors had good sweeps on them.

I live in Chandler AZ and the most effective way I found was to take the matter into my own hands. I purchased a black light, which can be found at Walmart, Walgreens, etc. My husband and I take turns going out every night to kill them, I use a stick to smash them. I’ve been doing this for many years and have never had any in the house. The first year I started doing this we kept a running total and killed over 200 over a six month period in the back yard. The number has gone down since we started and now kill around 60 in six month. Happy Hunting!

Diatomacious earth is great for a ton of things! Not just pools. 2-5 feet boarder around the house and keep it up. Throw chili flakes and/or pepperocino in just for good measure. Keep up the foundation, in the desert, too.

Liquid Se7en concentrate. 2-3x's strength. Regular spring sprays, follow up with garlic powder thru yr. HEED WARNING LABEL ON POISON! I've used when I 1st moved out in the woods and I haven't seen but 2 in the 7 years I've been here. Garlic is a critter cure all control, from insects to reptiles, if it uses a sense of smell, touch or taste, garlic burns. Even eating keeps mosquitoes off!
