I am going to be a first time grandma in September of this year! So excited! My son and his fiance are having a baby girl! They are naming her Murphy Josephene
Gathered up my items!
I had these two vases that have M & J etched on them.
I added a pop of color to them so they wouldn't fade into the moss I was going to use as a filler.
The items I gathered were my Unicorn SPiT. A little information on Unicorn SPiT (in case you haven't heard of it!) Unicorn SPiT™ Stain & Glaze is an all-natural, non-toxic, water based, vibrantly colored medium with a jasmine scent. It is safe to use indoors, on many surfaces and for any age.
I also picked up some flower wire, glue gun and I was thinking of using decorative rope but I didn't end up using it for this project.
These flowers are so cool! They are very pliable and they are super easy to work with. I had asked SPiT Shine what the best method of staining the flowers were and Michelle suggested dipping them in water prior to using the stain. Of course if I would have waited a day I could have watched her Live Tutorial she offered but being impatient I just dove in!
I diluted my Unicorn SPiT and used my spray bottle to squirt the color on. I used very little product and the flowers took really well to the stain. In between changing colors I ended up with bowls sitting on my table so I then started mixing colors on the flowers. I grabbed a small paint brush and began making them tie-dye. MJ's room I am told is going to be a light green and beige so I needed to get a couple of light green in there along with complimentary colors. It was super easy and quick to complete all of these! (See below)
I was really happy with the way they turned out!
I let them dry and then wanted to seal them and also add a little sparkle to them. I grabbed my go to sealer with Unicorn SPiT - all sealers should be oil based when using Unicorn SPiT - because it is a water based product you need an oil based sealer so that the sealer doesn't re-activate the SPiT. Too add that sparkle I grabbed my Paint with Pearl Metal Flake.
Here is a close up with the metal flake on. I sprayed the flower with a quick coat and then dusted some of the metal flake on them.
Next I grabbed my glue gun and put just a dab on the end of the floral wire, I then inserted the wire into the back of the flower, I wanted to make sure that the flowers stayed put! I will have to be mailing this present so I wanted to make sure it would hold together.
Then I arranged the flowers into the vases and here they are! I love the vibrancy and the colors just POP! I sure hope the little ones loves them too! Thank you for reading my post!
