Sorry ... but what are "sticker burrs"?
I think she was talking about cockaburrs. That's what we have always called them in Illinois.
My tried and true is vinegar and or boiling water for any problem plants, including sticker burrs. Take a look at "hunker.com" for further information.
Someone suggested that any sort of fertilizer will kill them because they prefer "poor" soil. We used mushroom compost & spread it over the area where we had them. It worked to some degree & we had fewer in that area the next year. But each of those "sticker burrs" is a seed. Best way is just to pull them up before the stickers are ready to fall off. They come up easy, you just have to be careful of the stickers.
