You can as long as the pot is large enough and has drainage holes. Makes sure you position the plant is partial shade.
Around here, I see hydrangeas as part of the landscaping in the ground. In-ground planting allows the hydrangea to become a full-sized shrub. If you keep the plant potted, I'd take it out and repot each year with fresh soil. If it's looking root-bound, then switch to a larger container.
As long as the pot is big enough, it should be okay. But it would be beautiful for lanscaping id you put it in the ground
Yes you can plant and leave it in a pot
I think they're best outside because they have room to multiply. Then after a couple of years you can dig up a little of it and put it in a pot for indoors to see how it will do. When I first planted mine, it was just a small bush in a 12" pot. It didn't grow at all the first year, but when cold weather came, I piled leaves all round it to keep it sheltered. Then the second year it REALLY grew! Good Luck!
These plants do better in the Pacific Northwest. They like the cooler shady, weather. Put on the eastern side of your house where it's cooler. Plant in ground for a better, happier plant.
I have several in planters- I just divide them into several pots-outside
