Is Creeping Charlie in your lawn a good thing or a bad thing?
Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
Regular white Vinegar, regular white salt, dish soap, water. Kills most weeds. All can be bought at the dollar store. The dish soap helps keep the mix on the plants,
you have to kill the roots. don't let it re-seed it'sself.
I have a yard full of it - want some??? 🙃 I am killing off in sections, using vinegar and the blazing 100° + heat. Then tilling and composting the soil and re seed in fall. I used some organic stuff to supposedly kill it - did just the opposite, I have the most lush crabgrass on the planet! You live and learn . . . And waste a few bucks along the way . . . But at least I tried!
In the spring, spread corn gluten meal on your lawn. That will prevent weed seeds from sprouting. I live in WNY, and spread it when the forsythia is blooming. That's how I remember.
Formula for systemic weed killer: One gallon of white vinegar. One cup of salt. Two tablespoons of liquid dish soap. Heat the vinegar till hot. Take off stove and add salt, stir till dissolved. Set aside to cool and then add the dish soap. Pour mixture in to a spray bottle and/or container that has "stream" and a "mist" option. In close quarters to your flowers and shrubs, use a piece of cardboard (about 12" by 12") place in front of flowers flush with the ground and then spray.
