I have seen people use plastic owls to scare birds. Hang them or mount on roof close to the bird nests. Owls can be found in the outdoor area (flowers, plants, garden tools) at local discount stores or garden/landscape/nursery stores. Good Luck!
They're harmless . You can soften the mud nest with a hose and knock it off the house with a broom stick .

Hi Collene Kay Whipple, I agree with the idea of using a fake owl. The hospital near my house puts fake owls on the roof. According to the staff they say it is very effective. I also think anything with movement will keep a lot of birds away. Such as pin wheels, whirligigs, etc. You could also hang pie tins. They could provide a little motion with a breeze and any reflection is a bonus. Hope this helps.
