The Garden Frog with C Renee on Jan 27, 2014Couple questions: has the shower/tub always done this? Is the plumbing and valve the same age or is it older? There is a valve (think it is actually called a mixer valve where the water comes into where the handle is. This valve can be adjusted to prevent scalding if you have children or elderly and may just need adjusting. Youtube adjusting a mixer valve for help. Good luck!Helpful Reply

Charlie Ramone on Jan 27, 2014I Say if you have a new shower/tub valve with 1 handle in the middle that adjusts both Hot and Cold that you have to adjust the anti-scald feature built in to all new tub/shower valves. Depending on the brand you'll need to get instructions on removing handle ( usually a small set screw) and you might have to remove Eschusion ring. 2 screws that hold the back Chrome/stainless steel that fits on back. As you turn water full hot there is a set screw or ? that stops it. You may have to turn your water of to tub to make this easier. Find make and model on line if you can to get specific instructions. IMPORTANT if you have small children or seniors that use tub/shower please warn them or keep hot at a safe temperature. PleaseHelpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jan 27, 2014Both answers are correct. Mixing or anti-scald is set to low. Contact a professional plumber for this fix. Its not something unless your understand how to make these adjustments. Done wrong, you can scald yourself quite quickly.Helpful Reply
