The type of heavy duty bracket is key. I bought some cheaper less sturdy brackets and it was sagging in no time. Depending on the weight of the shelf and what you’ll be using it for, there are some brackets that go into the piece of wood, about 4 inches or more, and this creates the support and is hidden inside the shelf itself.
