Barb doors
Thinking "barb" was meant to be "barn" doors above. Otherwise, I have a similar situation. Plan to try to remove at least part of the door, reframe the doorway and attach the hinged door to it.
Reframing the door would be best so you have something to attach hinges to. Be careful which way you have the doors swing - many times pocket doors were used because of clearance issues. Measure carefully. Make a mock up out of a cardboard box to test.
I like Naomie's suggestion. Making a mock up. Great idea. You also can purchase prehung doors that would fit the opening after everything is removed.
I prefer pocket doors, but I recently changed a bifold to a standard door. Your best bet would be to order a pre hung ( comes with frame and is mounted in same). Measure your opening and order the size and swing( right or left)to fit. You can order pre finished or paintable, hollow core or solid. Preferably solid for bedroom--cuts down inner and outer noises.
